Following up on my earlier question of whether the GOP’s pivot to culture war issues was a leading or lagging indicator of an improving economy, I have plotted prices for the S&P500 Index and Google searches for the word “contraception” between August 1, 2011—when the Obama administration announced its intended policy with regards to contraception coverage—-and today. This seems to point in the direction of it being lagged by a few weeks.
